A polar bear in the Arctic and a penguin in Antarctica both get carried away on ice flows and meet in New York City.
The Curious Adventures of Colonel Penny Loafer and Arctic Stu started years ago in my office. I work for Lindblad Expeditions, a New York City based travel company that works in alliance with National Geographic to operate small ship expeditions around the world. We are passionate about preserving the habitats of these animals and had a few miniatures hanging around. It didn’t take me long to realize that despite their small stature the duo was a big opportunity to see how they would behave in our habitat. Soon, Penny and Stu would accompany me around New York City and even on trips. Yes, I’m that guy who takes photos of miniature plastic animals. But I do it to make others think about the animals in a different way, juxtapose them with normal life, and see what ideas come from it. They have adventures from time to time.
